Site of the Stone Constructions in Lanzhouwanzi
Located in the south of Lanzhouwanzi village, Huayuan Township, Barkol County, the site is the ruin of a stone constructed residency of 3,200 years ago. It firstly appeared as a giant heap of stones, about 3m high and 30m in diameter. But after excavation, a stone-constructed building was found. The wall of the building was divided into two rooms connected by a gateway, cooking stove and column holes were found in the rooms. The unearthed relics include copper vessels, copper knives, painted pottery jars, pottery jugs and stone mills, etc. It’s the first time to find a single stone-constructed residency of this size in Xinjiang. It is listed as a cultural site under the autonomous region protection.
